FATE

 

In this destiny, this blind and fickle flight

I found myself cast by Fate's fingers--

Into a web in which I am ensnared--

Perhaps 'tis some monstrous joke?

 

Nay, far worse.  Far worse!  For I discovered

That by my own hand was the trap sprung;

"Tis my own weaving that made the entanglement,

My own hand and my own folly

That became Fate...

 

No jape, indeed.

For I have learned

The hand of Fate

Is mine.
