SHELL   OF   SORROW

The face of the lady on the street
The one I used to daily greet
Has changed for now I see her
Locked inside her shell of sorrow
Wondering if she'll see tomorrow
Through new eyes that hold no trace of tears
With her quiet air of desperation
Wondering if she'll find salvation
Or if it will elude her through the years

And now I find myself wondering why
Some of us sink, while some of us fly
